MIT’s work on the initiative involves several departments and units:
Program in Science, Technology & Society. MIT professor David Kaiser, who directs the program, was a co-principal investigator for Phase 1 of the Evolving Culture of Science Engagement initiative.
MIT Museum. John Durant, who directs the museum, was also co-principal investigator of the initiative.
MIT Graduate Program in Science Writing. Thomas Levenson, who directs the program, was also co-principal investigator of the initiative.
Science Festival Alliance. Ben Wiehe, who manages the alliance on behalf of the MIT Museum, where it is based, was also co-principal investigator of the initiative.
Other offices at MIT also provided critical financial, administrative, and logistical support, including the Dean of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences; the Dean of Science; the Department of Physics; and the MIT Knight Science Journalism Fellows Program.
